Redesigning Virtru’s Contact Us page to align with a site-wide visual revamp.

During my summer internship at Virtru, a global data encryption provider, I contributed to the website revamp, aligning it with a new visual identity. Working closely with the senior designer and web developer, I helped redesign the Contact Us page, an essential touchpoint for customer engagement and relationship building.

The Problem

Virtru's "Contact Us" page had lacked clarity and usability, making it difficult for users to navigate and effectively address their needs. It also did not effectively align with the new site-wide revamp.

Prior to designing, I investigated the, at the time, current design and observed some pain points:

• Lack of clear pathways for different customer needs (e.g., sales, tech support, general inquiries)

• Visual hierarchy suffers with form fields and partner logos competing for attention while the “Submit” button doesn’t stand out.

Research

I conducted research on various companies' Contact Us pages, noting that some opted for simplicity while others utilized empty space for credentials.

I also researched ways to redesign the contact form to make it cleaner and more seamless, all while keeping the broader site-wide design revamp in mind during the ideation process.

Layout Ideation

I experimented with layouts that emphasized simplicity and cleanliness, aligning with the overarching theme. To display credentials more cohesively, we opted for single-color client logos, creating a streamlined aesthetic.

To maintain consistency with the site-wide design revamp, in-house developed background graphics were incorporated as they were key components of the redesign’s visual identity.

Finalized Design

Once the team finalized the design and layout of the new page, the next step was to guide users to the appropriate support areas, such as general, sales, tech, or customer service. Initially, we considered using buttons to direct users, but ultimately decided to incorporate hooks and direct website links for clearer navigation and to better address user needs.

Launched Webpage

After final adjustments to details like verbiage, the high-fidelity mockup was sent to our web developer, who brought it to life on the site.

Reflections

Joining such a high-impact project as an intern was daunting at first, especially with my limited experience, but the team’s trust in my ideas proved otherwise. Their support and feedback empowered me to think outside the box and build my skills, ultimately contributing to a solution that Virtru can continuously use for their website.
